The Vintage Class, will consist of eight Yak-52 aircraft (Як -52) all racing at the same time. With its roaring 360/400 horsepower 9 cylinder radial Vedeneyev M14P engine, these are training aircraft of soviet origin which flew for the first time in 1976. It incorporates a number of features to be found on the early-post war fighters, like cockpit tandem layout, tricycle retractable landing gear and inner flaps. The Yak-52 is very unique in look, manoeuvrability and sound, being widely used in international aerobatic competitions and aerobatic displays.
With inverted fuel and oil systems, the aircraft can fly upside-down for up to two minutes. Weighing around 998 kg, the Yak -52 is very manoeuvrable and widely used internationally in advanced level aerobatic competitions.
